Alan Carr Is A Movie Geek
I don’t think anyone knows how much I love this man!
Rita, Sue, Bob and Sue (1987) is a brilliant British comedy/drama about two Yorkshire school girls that have a sexual fling with a married man – it already sounds hilarious.
The film stars Goodness Gracious Me’s Kulvinder Ghir, Siobhan Finneran, George Costigan and Michelle Holmes.
GEEK FACT: Maureen Long, who had an unspoken role in the film was attacked by the Yorkshire Ripper in real life but thankfully survived.

Rooftop Film Club
If someone gave me money to set up my own film night, I would show classic films around trendy locations in London. Don’t you think that’s a good idea? Of course it flippin is and that’s why I’m letting you guys know about the Rooftop Film Club.
The Rooftop Film Club is where you can watch classic, cult and recent releases on three of London’s most beautiful rooftops including; Queen of Hoxton in Shoreditch, The Roof Gardens in Kensington and Netil House in London Fields. How awesome is that? Oh and it’s the perfect place for a first date *wink, wink, nudge, nudge*! Tickets are only £10 and the cinema is open 5 nights a week Sunday through to Thursday.
If you want more information on screenings and times just click HERE. I definitely need to see Coming To America on a rooftop with some beers – who’s with me?

Trailer Addicts: Looper
Yes, the trailer has finally arrived with Gordon-Levitt looking even more weird than he does on the film poster. Looper is an action/sci-fi set in the year 2042 (that must explain Gordan’s over plucked eye brows). Sorry, they keep distracting me! Anyway, this film is all about time-travel that is only available to those with the means to pay for it on the black market. When the mob wants to eliminate someone, they send their target back into the past, where a hit man known as a ‘looper’ is waiting to finish the job. Joe (Gordon-Levitt) is a hired gun man, and he does his job well – until the day his bosses decide to “close the loop” and send Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) back in time to be killed…get it?
GEEK FACT: Since Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis play the same role at different ages, Levitt’s eyes were digitally altered to be the same colour as Willis’s eyes.
This Weeks One To Watch: Marley
If I had to sum this film up in one word, I’d say it was ‘interesting’. I say that because I found out a lot of new things about Bob Marley’s life that I never know before. Did you know that his late mother Cedella fell pregnant with him when she was 16 and his English father was 60? I know, that was a shocker to me too. But the most ‘interesting’ thing about this film was that it was produced by Ziggy Marley. It starred Bob’s daughter Cedella Marley but none of his other 11 children. The fact that Julian, Stephen, Rohan and especially Damian weren’t in the film was a big disappointment in my opinion.
Other than that, the film does what it says on the tin. It focuses on Bob Marley’s musical career, the struggles he faced being mixed race in Jamaicia, the Rastafarian movement right through to his death. It is a great film that will undoubtedly move you in some way or another…as well as make your ass numb after sitting down for 2.5 hours. Marley is certificate 15 and will be out in cinemas across the UK on Friday.

Song Of The Day: Barenaked Ladies “One Week”
Every time I hear this song by the Barenaked Ladies I can’t help but think of Jim stripping off in his bedroom…then his dad walking in, lol.
American Reunion hits our screens of the 5th May but I think I might just wait for the dvd – eekh!.
GEEK FACT: American Reunion was the film that popularized the term “MILF” – I love that.
***Wretch 32 Is A Movie Geek***
I can tell you that my pal Wretch is definitely Movie Geek! I always used to get him to review films for me and he flippin loved it. I guess a free film with your mates and some popcorn isn’t a bad deal really, is it?.
Anyway, Remember The Titans is a true story and was released in 2000. The film starred Denzel Washington, Hayden Panettiere, Ryan Gosling and Kate Bosworth. Sounds good, right?
Oh and just incase you’ve not been around a computer or a TV since Saturday you might have missed Wretch 32′s Adidas advert. He is starring alongside David Beckham, Example, Keith Lemon and more in the new “Take the Stage” advert for Adidas. The track was produced by the super talented Wizzy Wow.

Michael K. Williams To Play Ol’ Dirty Bastard
Yes sir, Michael K Williams is going to play ODB in the film Dirty White Boy. It is a film about his later years, when he was preparing to make a comeback after his three-year stint in prison. The story is actually pretty crazy when you think about it. A 22-year-old Vh1 production assistant named Jarred Weisfield managed to talk his way into becoming Jones’ manager and, despite Ol’ Dirty’s drug struggles/mental problems, Jarred actually got his career back on track. There’s going to be a lot of pressure on Michael from the Hip Hop critics but I’ve seen him in Gone Baby Gone and Brooklyn’s Finest so I know that he’s going to kill it.
GEEK FACT: Jarred Weisfield sold Vh1 a show on Ol’ Dirty while he was working there as a PA. Then he convinced Vh1 that he knew the rapper when he didn’t and sold them the show. He then went to visit ODB in prison where he pitched him the show.
Funny Or Die: Step Brothers
How can this clip not make you laugh?
GEEK FACT: Mary Steenburgen played Will Ferrell’s step mother in the Christmas film Elf and plays his actual mother in Step Brothers.

Aziz Ansari Is The Future
I heart Aziz Ansari…that’s all. If you’ve never seen the video of Aziz walking around New York with a shitty Boombox, well you’re in luck because it’s at the bottom of this page – Pow!
GEEK FACT: Aziz is going to play the voice of Squint in the 3D animation flick Ice Age: Continental Drift. He’ll be starring alongside Ray Romano, Queen Latifah, Jennifer Lopez, Seann William Scott, Drake and Nicki Minaj.
Lina Sands Is Angelina Jolie
I don’t normally blog stuff like this but gosh Lina Sands is the best Angelina Jolie look alike that I’ve ever seen! Lucky cow!
Lina is a spanish actress who has been living in the UK for the last 8 years studying acting. Now she is working with Susan Scott, an agency that has Kate Middleton and Prince William lookalikes on their books as well as a dead ringer for Queen Elizabeth.
GEEK FACT: Angelina Jolie’s directorial debut, In the Land of Blood and Honey hits our screens on the 12th February.

J.Cole Is A Movie Geek
I caught up with J.Cole earlier on this week and he told us that he’s a huge fan of Guy Richie, hence Snatch being one of his favourite films of all time. Snatch was released in 2000 and the film starred Benicio Del Toro, Brad Pitt, Jason Statham, Vinnie Jones, Dennis Farina and more.
J.Cole is currently in the UK supporting Tinie Tempah on his tour and he’s doing a series of gigs around the country. If you’re a fan of hip hop pick up his debut album Cole World: The Sideline Story – “That’s the hook right thurr”.
GEEK FACT: Snatch grossed a total of £12,137,698 in the United Kingdom and $30,093,107 in the United States – small change!.
Welcome Childish Gambino!
This week a lot of people have been talking about Childish Gambino around the office so I had google this kid. Then realised that’s it’s actually Donald McKinley Glover. If you didn’t already know he’s an American actor, writer, comedian and musician. He’s starred in the comedy shows 30 Rock, Human Giant (alongside Aziz Ansari), Community (alongside Ken Jeong and Chevy Chase) and is even starring in The Muppets which comes out later on next year.
This kid is one to look out for in 2012 so don’t say I didn’t tell you.
GEEK FACT: Glover came up with the name Childish Gambino through a Wu-Tang Clan name generator.
