Steve Carell Needs Some More Advice!
Think The 40-Year-Old Virgin meets Date Night. Sounds like a good combination, right? Well, you’re in luck because that’s exactly what Crazy, Stupid, Love is! Steve Carell plays Cal Weaver (one of my favourite awkward men in Hollywood), whose wife Emily (Julianne Moore) asks him for a divorce. He’s heart broken and decides to drink his sorrows away at his local bar but then notices smooth talking Jacob Palmer (Ryan Gosling) who seems to get any woman he wants. Cal asks him for some advice and before you know it he’s rocking a brand new suit, a new haircut and has got more swagger than George Clooney on a summers day! Oh, and Jacob starts falling for Hannah (Emma Stone), who has a connection with Cal…oh no!
Crazy, Stupid, Love is written by Dan Fogelman (Tangled/Bolt) and comes out in the UK in September. Cue trailer!
Mike and Sulley Go To Monsters University
It looks like we’ll have to wait a little bit longer for the Monsters, Inc prequel. The release date has moved back to the 21st June, 2013 (and that’s the US date). Just incase you didn’t know, Monsters University will follow the early days of Mike Wazowski and James P. “Sulley” Sullivan’s friendship in college, including the fact that it started out with the pair unable to stand each other (I can see that). As a general rule I’m not a huge fan of prequels but who doesn’t love Mike and Sulley?.
Check out the Monsters, Inc bloopers below – love it!
Jim Carrey Hearts Penguins
Cue Jim Carrey’s funny facial expressions! In his latest film, he’s going to play Mr. Popper in the film based on the 1938 children’s book. Unlike the original Mr. Popper who was a housepainter that received a pair of penguins in the post and eventually made up the Popper’s Performing Penguins travelling circus act. The Mr. Popper of 2011 is a high-powered city suit, who transforms his apartment into a winter wonderland and learns a few valuable lessons along the way. Oh and it looks like Vanilla Ice is going to get a nice cheque through the post this month.

The Bang Bang Club Trailer
I loved The Pursuit of Happiness, Ray and Catch Me If You Can but that’s because I’m a sucker for true stories…it’s true! Check out the trailer for the political drama The Bang, Bang Club. It stars Ryan Phillippe, Neels Van Jaarsveld, Taylor Kitsch and Frank Rautenbach as four combat photographers in post-Apartheid South Africa during the early 1990s. No UK release date has given for the film yet but it comes out in the States on the 22nd April.

Liam Neeson Confirms Taken 2
Taken 2 would never have been the same without Neeson and I’m happy to say that he has signed on the dotted line to star in the sequel. He originally said that he was going to take a break from acting and so producer Luc Besson was on the look out for a replacement. A few names that were floating around were Mickey Rourke (Iron Man 2), Ralph Fiennes (Harry Potter), Ray Winstone (The Departed), Sean Bean (Game of Thrones) and Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter) – I’m so glad that Neeson is back. Taken 2 will either begin shooting at the end of this year or the beginning of 2012.
GEEK FACT: Neeson went to Queen’s University of Belfast to study Physics and Computer Science but he dropped out to work for Guinness. In 2009 he received a doctorate from the University for his Outstanding Contribution and Service to the Arts.
Simon Pegg And Nick Frost Try To Do Star Wars
This had me in stitches!
Watch The First Five Minutes Of Source Code!
If you’re going to watch the Source Code when it comes out on the 1st April, take your time because you can watch the first five minutes of the film here. Oh and who knew that comedian Russell Peters is in the film? I have a feeling that ‘somebody gonna get hurt real bad’…sorry, I couldn’t help myself! Check out the clip from Russell Peters 2009 tour below – I love it!
GEEK FACT: Russell Peters is going to star in the film New Year’s Eve alongside Robert De Niro, Jessica Biel, Katherine Heigl and Ashton Kutcher which comes out in the UK on the 9th December.
New Sucker Punch Pictures
I must have blogged about this film 100 times already but I love chicks that kick ass! This flicks about Baby Doll (played by Emily Browning) who is sent to a mental institution by her evil stepfather (he sounds nice). But instead of dealing with reality, she turns to a world of fantasy in her head where she and her other female inmates try to escape from the facility – you go girls!. It’s directed and written by Zack Snyder (Watchmen and 300) who’s described the film as ‘Alice in Wonderland’ with machine guns’ – I better book my ticket now!
Sucker Punch comes out in the UK on the 1st April.
I Heart…
Misery isn’t the kind of film that you want to watch if you’re an a-list celebrity. Nicki Minaj better watch out because those barbz roll in packs of 10 (I’m just sayin). This cult classic was written by Stephen King and it’s about Paul Sheldeon (James Caan) a famous novelist who crashes his car on a snowy mountain road and is “rescued” by Annie ‘psycho’ Wilkes played by Kathy Bates. She ends up keeping him hostage in her house and doesn’t hide the fact that she wants him to stay forever…think hammer. Misery is dark, it’s twisted and it’s a film that will freak you the hell out but that’s exactly why I heart it!
GEEK FACTS:
- Bette Midler turned down of playing Annie Wilkes before it went to Kathy Bates.
- Kathy Bates became the first woman to win an Oscar for Best Actress in a horror/thriller for her role as Annie Wilkes.
- Michael Douglas, Harrison Ford, Dustin Hoffman, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, RGene Hackman, Robert Redford, and Warren Beatty, all turned down the role of Paul Sheldon.
- As of 2010 this is the only Stephen King adaptation to receive an Academy Award.
Happy Birthday Common!
Kanye West, Meagan Good, and Kid Cudi all surprised Common at The Redbury Hotel on Sunday night. Common celebrated his 39th birthday in Las Vegas as well performing for a sold out crowd at Haze Nightclub. Who else thinks that his cake is awesome?
Super 8 Trailer In Full
This is one film I can’t flippin wait to see! J.J. Abrams’ mysterious sci-fi Super 8 will be out in cinemas August 19 in the UK.
Taking On Tyson
Iron Mike has gone back to one of his old gyms as part of his new reality TV show Taking on Tyson. The show that airs in the US on the 6th March doesn’t focus on his boxing but on the former champ’s love for pigeons.
If you didn’t get a chance to watch Tyson’s documentary back in 2008, I suggest you rent it because it is amazing!!! Tyson is such an interesting character and the film sheds a lot of light on parts of his life that he doesn’t really talk about…and he cries.
GEEK FACT: Mike is going to star in The Hangover Part II which comes out in the UK on the 27th May – check out Ed Helms’ face in the trailer below, lol!
Julianne Moore To Play Sarah Palin? WTF?
Okay, I’m happy for Julianne Moore, I think she’s a great actress her but can someone please explain why Tina Fey isn’t playing Palin? Answers on a postcard please!
Game Change, which is based on Mark Halperin and John Heilemann’s book is going to be directed by Jay Roach (Meet the Fockers) and written by Danny Strong (Buffy the Vampire Slayer). The film will be about what went on behind the scenes during the 2008 presidential election. There’s no word on who is going to play John McCain yet but maybe he could just play himself? He did a pretty good job on Saturday Night Live.
Who Wants A Hand Job?
I know for a fact that the title of this film will grab a lot of peoples attention but the cast of The Hand Job seems to be getting better by the day. The film is about Aubrey Plaza (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) who will play an academically driven young woman who is about to head to college but doesn’t know anything about sex. So, she throws herself into losing her virginity and tries to learn everything there is to know about sex before she hits the dorm room…cue awkwardness! The film also starts SNL’s Andy Samberg, 30 Rock’s Donald Glover and Christopher Mintz-Plasse aka Fogell aka McLovin.
No date has been given for the films release but as soon as I find out, I’ll let you nerds know. Check out Aubrey Plaza on George Lopez talking about being half latino, her taste in men and her first ever girl fight.
GEEK FACT: Aubrey Plaza had never done stand-up comedy before she appeared in and performed stand-up comedy in the film Funny People (2009).
New Kung Fu Panda Characters
It’s not long until we see our favourite clumsy Panda on the silver screen! This time round him and the gang have to take down evil Lord Shen. The only problem is, the peacock has a powerful weapon that could threaten the existence of Kung Fu.
Check out the new brand characters in Kung-Fu Panda 2. So, there’s Lord Shen, voiced by Gary Oldman. He’s a smart, ambitious type who has mastered gunpowder and plans to use it to conquer China. Next up is the Wolf Boss, who used to lead the pack that guarded the royal palace of Gongmen City. Then we have Shen’s army, the Gorillas, a powerful group of apes who are honour bound to serve their master. Finally, there’s Soothsayer, a wise and friendly goat with some serious psychic power.
Kung-Fu Panda 2 hits our 3D screens on the 10th June.
X-Men: First Class Posters
Here are the brand new posters of X-Men: First Class. The film hits our screens on the 2nd June.
Bad Teacher Poster
Cameron Diaz is rocking those boots on the poster of her latest flick Bad Teacher! The films about Cameron who plays a 7th grade teacher and after she gets dumped by her sugar daddy, she sets her gold-digging eyes on her well-off colleague Justin Timberlake. Peek the trailer below.
Gunnin’ for That #1 Spot
Last night the gold diggers were out in force to watch The New Jersey Nets Vs. The Toronto Raptors play at the 02 Arena in London. I’m not going to lie and say that I knew what was going on because I didn’t but what I do know is that The Nets were on fire! They defeated the Raptors 116-103 – gooooo team!. After the match it got me thinking about Adam Yauch’s brilliant documentary film Gunnin’ for That #1 Spot. Trust me, if you’re a fan of basketball and hip hop you will love this film! It’s about 8 of the U.S.’s top high school basketball players that compete in the first “Elite 24″ tournament at Rucker Park in New York. Oh and The Toronto Raptors player Jerryd Bayless starred in this film too. Peek the trailer below!
Vanity Fair After Party Pictures
Check out the pictures from the Vanity Fair Oscar Party! I love the picture of Emma Stone, Leslie Mann, Judd Apatow and Paul Rudd all sitting around the table, it looks like they’re having a good old gossip!
