Funny Or Die: Aziz Ansari for the American Express Membership Effect

***Matthew Morrison Is A Movie Geek***

I met the super lovely Matthew Morrison this week while he was dancing to a bit Rihanna (he was throwing some serious shapes) but was kind enough to stop and tell me his favourite film – he’s so nice.

Matthew Morrison is going to be starring alongside Elizabeth Banks, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez and Chris Rock in the new comedy What To Expect When You’re Expecting which comes out on the 23rd May, 2012.

GEEK FACT: The Shawshank Redemption was released in 1994 and made $58,500,000 worldwide.

Ron Burgundy Breaks The News

Isn’t this flippin awesome?

Michael K. Williams To Play Ol’ Dirty Bastard

Yes sir, Michael K Williams is going to play ODB in the film Dirty White Boy. It is a film about his later years, when he was preparing to make a comeback after his three-year stint in prison. The story is actually pretty crazy when you think about it. A 22-year-old Vh1 production assistant named Jarred Weisfield managed to talk his way into becoming Jones’ manager and, despite Ol’ Dirty’s drug struggles/mental problems, Jarred actually got his career back on track. There’s going to be a lot of pressure on Michael from the Hip Hop critics but I’ve seen him in Gone Baby Gone and Brooklyn’s Finest so I know that he’s going to kill it.

GEEK FACT: Jarred Weisfield sold Vh1 a show on Ol’ Dirty while he was working there as a PA. Then he convinced Vh1 that he knew the rapper when he didn’t and sold them the show. He then went to visit ODB in prison where he pitched him the show.

***A$AP ROCKY IS A MOVIE GEEK***

Anyone that knows me, knows that I’ve been spreading the word about A$AP Rocky since last year. Not only is he the dopest rapper out there right now but he’s also got great taste in films.

Juice was released in 1992 and made $20,146,880 in the USA alone.

GEEK FACT: A$AP Rocky signed a 3 million dollar deal which is the biggest record deal since 50 Cent. Oh and if you haven’t got the LiveLoveA$AP Mixtape just click HERE and you’ll know what all the hype is about.

The Marley Documentary

The downside to this film is that it’s 2.5 hours long so your ass will be numb by the time it’s finished and it doesn’t include interviews with Damian, Rohan, Stephen or Julian Marley but other than that this film is amazing. If you’re like me and you’re generally fascinated with Bob Marley, you’re going to love this.

Marley hits the UK cinemas on the 20th April.

GEEK FACT: Bob Marley’s mom Cedella was 16 years old when she got pregnant and Norval Marley was 60 years old – eekh!.

This Weeks One To Watch: Bill Cunningham NY

Bill Cunningham New York has to be the BEST fashion documentary that I’ve ever seen! Forget The September Issue, that’s a load of crap compared to this film.

Bill Cunningham New York is a documentary film about New York fashion photographer Bill Cunningham. He’s an 82-year-old man that rides around New York on his bike taking pictures of trendies. The filmmakers follow him as he attends fashion events, travels to Paris but for me the most interesting part of this film was Bill’s personal life. Although he is well-respected by fashion editors like Anna Wintour’s and is always on the front row of the biggest fashion shows, no one really knows anything about him. Bill lives in a tiny apartment that is literally full of filing cabinets of all the negatives pictures he has ever taken. The man doesn’t even have his own bathroom, kitchen, or shower. Even more interesting is that although he is in the fashion industry, he’s only got a hand full of clothes to his name and his blue signature jacket is the same $20 jacket that New York dustbin men wear. Bill Cunningham is an intelligent, well respected, passionate and one hell of a grafter and although he could make A LOT of money, he believes that self repsect is more important – I love this guy.

Bill Cunningham New York is out now so get your arse to the cinema.

The Beautiful Children Of India

Gosh, I feel like I haven’t blogged in ages and it’s only been 2 weeks. The reason why I haven’t had a chance to update my blog is because I’ve been in India for 2 weeks. I went out there to do some charity work with my dad and boy was it a life changing experience. I spent 1 week at Pingalwara in Amritsar, Punjab and the rest of my time working around the villages in Punjab. Although I was only there for 14 days, I was exposed to children being tied to beds, women telling me about their abusive relationships and a lot more, which is what made me want to put this video together. This is just a teaser of the kind of work I did out there. The video includes some of the most beautiful children at Pingalwara, 2 blind men that we took to the Golden Temple for the first time in their lives as well as the schools that we worked with.

I hope that when you watch this video, it will inspire you to go out there are give some of your time to those children in the world that are less fortunate than you. Some of these children spend all of their day in a bed because they can’t move and they don’t have a voice. So, next time you complain about missing the bus or your TV not working just think about how lucky you are.

Oh and just a word of warning, I’d get some tissues ready before you press play on the video below!

Funny Or Die: Rush Hour 3

***Dev Patel Is A Movie Geek***

Dev Patel has to be one the nicest dudes out there and bizarrely reminds me of my little brother. Such a lovely Indian boy. Anyway, make sure you check out his brand new film The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel which is out on the 24th February and in the words of Dev’s character Sonny “Everything will be alright in the end. So if it is not alright, it is not the end.” – love that!
