Not Coming To A Cinema Near You: Compliance

I hate the word “compliance” but that is possibly why I’m so attracted to this film and the fact that it is based on true events.

I can’t believe this actually happened but in 2006 a man claiming to be a police officer called the manager of the McDonald’s restaurant in Mount Washington, Kentucky. He told her that a female member of staff had stole money from a customer. The officer gave her the choice of waiting for the police to come, or to carry out a strip search in front of the store CCTV. She complied with the man on the phone and so did all the other members of staff but that was only the beginning of a long and humiliating ordeal.

Compliance premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival in January 2012 and got brilliant reviews. The film is out in the US on August 17, but there’s no UK release date set. This is one film that we need to see so someone needs to pick it up…quick time!
