Birmingham’s very own singer/songwriter Laura Mvula is this weeks Movie Geek – 0121! Jungle Book was released in 1967 and is a Disney classic! The film was inspired by the Mowgli stories written by English writer, poet and novelist Rudyard Kipling. GEEK FACT: Jungle Book was the last film personally overseen by Walt Disney.

Winner of the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award for U.S dramatic film at this years Sundance Film Festival – I can’t flippin wait to see this! Although I’ve never been to Sundance Film Festival (it’s okay, I’m not angry), I always make sure that I go to Sundance London and this year was no different. On Sunday morning I went to see the AMAZING documentary film Blood Brother, you know the one that I’ve been banging on about since January? Yes, that one! Only a selected number of people were lucky enough to see the film at Sundance London and I was one of them – yay!. The documentary is beautiful but heart-wrenching at the same time. I knew it was going to be a hard film to watch but I didn’t think I would have cried as much as I did – I bawled like a big baby for 92mins straight. The film director and Rocky’s best friend Steve Hoover and producer of the film Danny Yourd both did a Q&A at the end of the screening which was brilliant. I asked them what the kids thought of the film when they saw it, and they told me that they thanked Steve for making them movie stars, which I thought was super cute!
