“If you’re having marriage problems I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but a b**** ain’t one” (I had to tailor Jigga’s lyric, lol). But trust, me if you’ve got marriage problems the only film you need to see this weekend is ‘Why Did I Get Married Too?’. It stars an A-List cast including; Janet Jackson, Jill Scott, Tyler Perry and loads more. I caught up with Tyler Perry who directed and starred in the film and if you didn’t know was the Executive Producer of this years biggest film ‘Precious’.
Check out my interview with Tyler Perry by clicking HERE.

Last month I blogged that Rhi Rhi had been snapped up by Universal to star in the new action film ’Battleship’ and here’s the first picture of her on set. The film is based on the classic combat-style board game (a bit of a random choice for a first film if you ask me). But she’ll be making her film debut alongside ‘True Blood’ vampire Alexander Skarsgard and ‘Friday Night Lights’ star Taylor Kitsch. It looks like she hasn’t had much say in the clothes department either.

Briana Evigan has been slowly been making a name for herself in Hollywood with roles in movies such as ‘Sorority Row’ and ‘Step Up 2 The Streets’. Her latest film, ‘Burning Bright’, premiered at London’s Film4 FrightFest last week and Briana took the time out to speak to Movie Geeks about the film. Plus, she told us a few interesting ‘geek facts’ about herself. What was it like to work with a real life tiger? I actually never worked with the tiger. I shot the movie by myself (laugh). I met the tigers while they were in their cages but the coolest part about this movie for me was the challenge of having nothing to work with. Frightfest is just around the corner, so what’s your favourite horror movie of all time? Oh my gosh! I don’t think I have a favourite but if I had to choose I’d have to be Stephen Kings ‘The Shining’. It’s funny I was never really a huge horror buff. I enjoy them, I think they’re fun but now seeing how everything’s done, it’s easier for me to watch horror movies because they don’t freak me out as much. Alongside being an actress you’re also a professional dancer. You [...]

Green Lantern, R.I.P.D., Deadpool, Safe House and now a film with Bradley Cooper? Hasn’t Ryan Reynolds got enough work to be getting on with? He obviously thinks he doesn’t but can someone please check the man’s temperature?. The 100th film that he’s set to star in is about two friends from San Francisco who are cops. Their dads are also retired police officers and a new case forces all four of them to work on a case together, cue the arguments. The film is going to be produced by the even busier Neil Mortiz (I Am Legend) and will be written by Sheldon Turner (Up In The Air). GEEK FACT: Ryan Reynolds failed his high school drama class (it’s true).

Okay, maybe not in that way but Steve Carell is producing and starring in the film ‘A Boyfriend for My Wife’. It’s a remake of the 2008 Argentine romantic comedy ‘Un novio para mi mujer’. The films about a wimpy husband who can’t stand the thought of staying married to his wife, so he tries to find someone for her to fall in love with. The only problem is, his choice turns out to be the world’s least likely womanizer (I’m already laughing). Mark Gibson and Phil Halprin who wrote, uh, ‘Snow Dogs’, are on board to write the script (random). Check out two of my favourite scenes from ‘The 40 Year Old Virgin’. Behind the scenes of Steve Carell getting his chest waxed and an unrated version of Mooj’s advice – love it!

It seems that we’re all excited about ‘Scream 4′ (okay, maybe it’s just me) but the cast seems to be getting more and more interesting by the day. The old gang Courteney Cox, Neve Campbell and David Arquette are all back to their crime fighting ways. But a few new faces have all ready started filming including; Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Rory Culkin and Marley Shelton. Now, the latest additions to the film are ‘True Blood’ star Anna Paquin and Sarah Marshall aka Kristen Bell. Just a thought but why hasn’t Craven given Ghostface Killah a cameo? Or maybe he’ll be in Scary Movie 6 because you know that’s not too far behind.

Back in 2005 the book ‘Freakonomics’ (I love that name) sold over several million copies and became an international bestseller. It’s written by New York Times journo Stephen J Dubner and the University of Chicago economist Steven Levitt who applied economic theories to bizarre subjects. In the book they exposed cheating in the world of Sumo wrestling and the relationship between the Ku Klux Klan and estate agents (random). Anyway, the book has been adapted into a documentary film and as much as you may disagree with their theories, it still looks like an interesting watch. Oh and it saves you from reading the book (yes, I said it). The film has already done the festival rounds and gets a limited mainstream release in the States in November. There isn’t a UK release date yet – booo!

Manchester’s very own Danny Boyle is back! But not with another rags-to-riches story instead a small-scale survival drama about a mountaineer. ’127 Hours’ is a film based on the true-life story of Aaron Ralston (played by James Franco) who went climbing in Utah’s Blue John Canyon. After a fallen boulder crashed on his arm, Ralston had to figure out how he was going to survive. Thankfully, he did but he had to drink his own urine and hack off his arm with a blunt knife and a pair of pliers (ouch). Hopefully, we won’t have to wait too long to see this film as it’s set to hit our screens by the end of the year. GEEK FACT: ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ won eight Oscars at the 2009 Academy Awards and has so far earned $377m (£228m) at the global box office.

First the story of ‘The Social Network’ phenomenon Facebook and now Google? Yes, it’s true! Producer John Morris has decided that the story of Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page is just the sort of rise-to-glory story that would make a brilliant film (and so it would). The pair of nerds came up with the web-conquering idea when they were sick of using Yahoo as PhD students at Stanford University. Now, London’s Groundswell Productions have nabbed the rights to the book ‘Googgled: The End of the World As We Know it’ and this is what Groundswell’s Michael London said the film would be about: “It’s about these two young guys who created a company that changed the world, and how the world in turn changed them. The heart of the movie is their wonderful edict, don’t be evil. At a certain point in the evolution of a company so big and powerful, there are a million challenges to that mandate. Can you stay true to principles like that as you become as rich and powerful as that company has become? The intention is to be sympathetic to Sergey and Larry, and hopefully the film will be as interesting as the [...]
